Assistant Professor - Tenure Track – Academic Year 2026 - 2027. Western Connecticut State University’s School of Professional Studies is pleased to announce applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Nursing. The successful candidates will teach courses across the nursing program as directed by the department chair. Programs include Undergraduate (Traditional, Accelerated, and RN-BS), Master’s in Nursing, and Doctoral levels (Ed.D. or DNP). The candidate may perform didactic and/or clinical practice with students and must be current in practice. The candidate will serve on departmental and university committees and engage in professional activity and scholarship. They will be expected to participate in activities valuable to the department, including advising and mentoring students, writing grant proposals, developing curricula, maintaining accreditation and NCLEX pass rates, collaborating across the curriculum, and promoting connections with other departments. WCSU’s small class sizes support student-centered teaching and project-based activities. Standard teaching load is 24 credits per academic year (12 credits per semester). Responsibilities
Teach courses across the nursing program per discretion of the department chair. Engage in scholarly activity and professional service on departmental and university committees. Advise and mentor students; participate in curriculum development and accreditation activities. Assist with maintaining NCLEX pass rates and program effectiveness; foster interdepartmental collaboration. Engage in clinical and didactic instruction as appropriate for the program offerings. Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Nursing with relevant educational and clinical experience. Academic Doctorate in Nursing or related field (Ph.D., Ed.D. or DNS) required at the time of tenure review for this Assistant level position. Current registered professional nurse with Connecticut licensure at the time of hire. Experience in teaching across the curriculum; strong Medical/Surgical and/or Pediatric background preferred. Willingness to participate in departmental and university service, advising, mentoring, curriculum development, and professional activity. Salary & Benefits
The hiring salary ranges: Instructor $65,308 – $76,193; with range for this position $73,912 – $86,231, commensurate with experience. Western offers a comprehensive benefits package.
