SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant serves as a general staff accountant in the accounting department, ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization's audits and regulatory filings. Prepares journal entries, assigned account reconciliations, and other analyses as required to support the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closes. Performs various duties in the month-end close process including account analysis and explanation of variances pertaining to comparative periods, budget and forecasts. Ensures supporting documentation and/or subledger(s) exists and the documentation is accurate and ties to the appropriate balance sheet account on the general ledger.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Assist management in providing timely and accurate financial statements and monthly reports Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close including the calculation, review and processing of journal entries and preparation of balance sheet/account reconciliations Participate in the quarterly and year-end closing process including the internal and external audits and reviews Proficient with accounting systems, with the ability to maintain and troubleshoot setups effectively Perform special projects or duties as required within the accounting department
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, interpretation, and analytical skills. Must be organized and exhibit time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Team, Outlook and Word) Strong understanding with U.S. GAAP required Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment Proactive attitude, looks for continuous improvement
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited four-year institution CPA is a plus, not required
Experience: 2 - 5 years of relevant experience preferred Experience working with NetSuite and Concur preferred Experience working with SEC and SOX a plus
Working Environment Position will be on-site (Denver, CO) Well-lit, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor setting with adequate ventilation General office environment Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
