Purpose
The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company and ensures the accuracy of financial records through timely reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting. This role exists to provide reliable financial data, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the accounting function. Takes ownership of defined sub-ledgers and drives process improvements to accelerate close cycles. The Role
The Staff Accountant will work closely with senior members of the accounting team while independently owning assigned workstreams. In addition to recurring accounting activities, this role leads portions of the close cycle, mentors junior team members, and recommends improvements to accounting process. Key responsibilities include: Cash Reconciliation:
Prepare daily bank reconciliations and resolve variances independently; track recurring issues and propose corrective actions. Revenue and AR:
Support billing, collections, and revenue recognition processes by maintaining accurate records and preparing schedules. Own reconciliations and perform variance analysis. Fixed Assets:
Own fixed assets and lease schedules, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and ASC 842 compliance. Month-End Close:
Prepare recurring journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with variance analysis by owning assigned areas to completion and presenting results with minimal guidance. Financial Reporting:
Contribute to preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages by preparing recurring schedules independently and presenting results to senior accountants. Coordination with Third Parties:
Provide support in preparing PBCs for external auditors, tax preparers, and other service providers. Serve as point-of-contact for auditors on owns areas. Tax Compliance:
Assist with the preparation and filing of sales/use tax and property tax returns. Ad-Hoc Projects:
Participate in process improvement initiatives and recommend automation or ERP enhancements. Basic Qualifications
Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2-4 years of accounting experience (industry or public) Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and basic understanding of accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines independently and with ownership of deliverables Preferred Qualifications
CPA eligibility or working toward certification Exposure to Oracle Fusion or other mid-to-large ERP systems Standard office setting with occasional extended hours during month-end close and audit periods Sedentary role with extensive computer work and frequent interaction across departments Fast-paced, growth-oriented company environment requiring adaptability and initiative and problem-solving with limited oversight Pay Range
