Job Description And Duties

This is the full journey level. Under the general direction of the Workers' Compensation Supervisor, the Workers' Compensation Consultant audits workers' compensation for self-insured employers; investigates and resolves issues and disputes concerning workers' compensation laws and its application; analyzes the application of and enforces workers' compensation rules and regulations, programs and laws; analyzes, reviews, audits, and investigates industrial injury claims or the extent of compliance with workers\' compensation coverage and laws; assists in training subordinate staff; and does other related work. Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. The incumbent\'s home residence is designated as the headquarter and is required to travel as part of their job duties. The position requires the incumbent to work extensively on computers as necessary for reviewing claim files, conducting research, determining compliance determinations, compiling data and reports, drafting email communication, and other purposes.
