Yakima, WA. This position is based in Yakima, WA with a hybrid work model. In-person attendance will be required during the initial training period and for regularly scheduled team and customer meetings. Occasional travel to support customers at their locations may also be necessary. Following the training phase, flexible or compressed work schedules may be considered. Closes:

$4,428.00 - $5,956.00 Monthly. The Opportunity: As an entry-level professional Human Resource Consultant (HRC), this position contributes to the agency’s mission to protect children and strengthen families by providing first-level professional Human Resource (HR) consultation and advice within Region 1 Child Welfare Field Operations (CWFO). Responsibilities: Advise employees, supervisors, and managers on HR procedures, policies, laws, CBAs, and employee relations issues. Support management with performance management, attendance, position descriptions, in-training plans, and status changes. Provide guidance on job classifications, salaries, seniority, leave types, and employment concerns. Assist employees with HR forms related to benefits, payroll, insurance, retirement, and other employment changes; submit forms for processing. Respond to inquiries from staff and the public, assessing needs and directing for further assistance. Process personnel and payroll actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, and separations. Prepare and maintain related HR documents and ensure accurate HRMS entries. Assist with position allocations, updates, and reclassifications. Coordinate and lead new employee orientation sessions twice a month, offering a detailed overview of the benefits available to state employees. Required Qualifications: Four (4) years of work experience in an office or human resources setting, or related field OR a mixture of relevant education and experience equaling four (4) years. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: SHRM-CP/SCP, S/PHR, or other professional HR certification Professional experience providing consultation and administrative support within a Human Resources Office.
