Overview
Position: Consulting Utility Forester – Miami, FL We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals. Division: DAVEY RESOURCE GROUP, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company Type: Full-Time Responsibilities
Inspect distribution utility rights-of-way and access to Right-of-Way areas for compliance with state clearance standards. Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide information to line-clearance crews. Document work using handheld devices; notify property owners of pending work on their property. Audit work completed by contractors; discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues. Special projects as assigned; willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and storms as needed. Work with major electric/gas utility systems and address its forestry needs. Inspect utility rights of way and identify vegetation incompatible with state and federal regulations. Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps and use GPS navigation. Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property. Assess terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions; coordinate with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads. Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline; or more than 1 year of utility vegetation management experience or similar experience (tree work industry, landscape professional). Preferred/Desired Qualifications
Proficiency with local tree identification and tree physiology; ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain within 6–12 months; Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License. Current Driver’s License with driving record in good standing; proficient with Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint. Embraces outdoor, independent work environment; detail-oriented; good communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of local tree species and growth rates; ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather; ability to become ISA certified arborist within 18 months. What We Offer
