Position Summary & Location
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for product development from concept through production, which includes new product development, sustaining, and resolution of field problems. They lead electro-mechanical product design, redesign, part assembly, and detailed part drawings. The Senior Design Engineer also leads prototyping, testing, and assembly of samples. A successful Senior Design Engineer collaborates cross-functionally and leads various projects. This position works onsite in Des Plaines, IL. Primary Responsibilities Include
Leading various aspects of the design process, including the development of part geometry, assembly design, and drawing generation. Developing and distributing engineering data in the form of Engineering Change Notices, bills of material, and parts tracking. Partnering with the manufacturing facilities to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests, and bill of material errors. Actively participates in team meetings using the product delivery system for each major product. Initiating and developing concepts for new products from Project Charters and Specification Matrix. Ensuring concepts are agreeable with standard manufacturing methods utilized in the manufacturing facility. Continuously improves productivity, quality, purchasing, and manufacturing processes. Submitting test requests and actively engaging with the testing group as necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 3-5 years of experience. Demonstrated understanding of engineering fundamentals. Effectively communicates verbally, in written form, and through sketches and engineering drawings. Proficient use of 3D CAD and PLM software, as well as Microsoft Office. Understands manufacturing methods such as stamping, drawing, casting, and extruding metals and plastics. Influences and enlists the cooperation of other team members to work towards completing and implementing new product development on time and on budget. Knowledge of UL / CSA and testing processes is a plus. Available to travel based on business needs, up to 5%. The range for this position is $91,400.00 to $164,400.00.
