Job Title: Chair of Cybersecurity Department
Lipscomb University is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Chair of our Cybersecurity Department. The successful candidate will guide the department's academic direction, teach upper-division courses, lead research initiatives, mentor students, and maintain strong industry partnerships.
Position Details The School of Computing within Lipscomb's Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering is hiring for a tenure-track Associate Professor position beginning August 2025. The role includes serving as the Chair of the Cybersecurity Department, with responsibilities as outlined below.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a closely related field
Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in industry or research
Experience teaching undergraduate courses in cybersecurity or related fields
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to mentoring students and fostering a collaborative, faith-based academic environment
Key Responsibilities Leadership and Administration
Provide strategic leadership for departmental growth and development
Oversee faculty recruitment, mentoring, and evaluation
Manage department budget and resources
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration within the university
Academic Excellence
Teach undergraduate cybersecurity courses enthusiastically
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in teaching and research
Stay current with emerging trends and certifications in cybersecurity
External Relations
Develop partnerships with industry, government, and academia
Represent the department at professional events
Engage in student recruitment and alumni activities
Program Development
Lead new program development and implementation
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, including NSF CAE-CD designation
Advocate for resources supporting departmental growth
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in relevant field
Proven excellence in teaching and research in cybersecurity
At least 3 years of leadership experience in higher education
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Industry experience in cybersecurity
Strong publication record and external funding history
Experience with accreditation processes such as ABET
Interdisciplinary collaboration experience
Knowledge of emerging areas like AI, quantum computing, IoT security
