Overview
Johns Hopkins University has a major new investment in Data Science and AI and invites applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in all areas of the mathematical sciences. The positions are part of the Data Science and AI Institute (DSAI Institute) within the Whiting School of Engineering, Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics. The department is expanding from 20 full-time regular faculty in 2023 to 40 by 2028. We are filling multiple faculty positions in the DSAI Institute. The successful candidate will have a tenure home in the Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics (and possibly another Whiting School of Engineering department) and will participate in one or more cross-departmental DSAI clusters.

Responsibilities Establish and lead a strong, independent, multidisciplinary, and internationally recognized research program.
Contribute to high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Engage with colleagues across the University and with the Data Science and AI Institute and related centers.
Collaborate across departments, potentially holding a tenure home in the Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics and/or other engineering departments.
Qualifications Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
Commitment to teaching excellence and to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment for all students.

Applications should be submitted online. For Assistant Professor level, include a cover letter describing principal expertise, statements of teaching and research interests, a complete resume, and a publication list. For Assistant Professor, include at least three reference letters. Applications at Associate or Full Professor levels may not require reference letters at this stage. Applications submitted by December 1, 2025, will receive full consideration; the department will begin reviewing on October 15, 2025 and may schedule fall semester interviews.

Salary information: The expected salary ranges are
Assistant Professor
$150k-$200k,
Associate Professor
$180k-$245k,
Full Professor
$200k-$450k, for a 12-month FTE. The actual offer will depend on factors including experience, rank, field, location, internal equity, and market conditions.
