Coordinate and administer the religious education program at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. This position is a part-time position. The Essential Duties Listed below are designed for a full time position and must be edited based upon hours available and performing the essential tasks to provide a Religious Education Program at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church. Essential Job Duties

As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed. This requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position: Ability to design the Catechetical Program in a manner which support lifelong learning consistent with the directions provided by the Diocese of Austin and the Catholic Conference of Bishops; Ability to develop goals, objectives and strategies for the Catechetical Program and to articulate a vision and direction for implementation; Ability to activity engage in and manage the Catechetical Program including direct participation in scheduled presentations, classes, centers and other activities to the extent required to ensure adequate staffing and quality controls. Ability to recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate religious education staff, catechist volunteers and other leadership with the Church Community to implement and support the Catechetical Program including: Adjusting components of the Catechetical Program as needed such as space, time, materials, staff and volunteer resources; Creating and monitoring a budget for the operation of the Catechetical Program; Obtaining resources such as audio video, textbooks, environmental enrichment and other materials as needed to complement the Catechetical Program; Negotiate for space and other physical environment requirements; Coordinate liturgical/sacrament functions and varied prayer experiences; and Communicating with participants, parents and the Church Community to keep them informed of the Catechetical Program. Ability to evaluate the Catechetical Program in relation to the goals, objectives and strategies, including: Conduct Catechetical Program evaluations at all levels including with Church staff, volunteers and participants: Collating evaluation information and giving feedback to appropriate groups; Adjusting the Catechetical Program in relation to Church feedback, Diocesan direction and other professional literature; and Meeting with Church staff, volunteers and participants to elicit further information regarding evaluations and for future planning. Ability to adapt the Catechetical Program and to create individual components for members of the Church Community with special religious education needs; Ability to assist the Pastor, the Assistant Pastor and the Church staff in making informed decisions concerning the Catechetical Program and other religious education matters. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effective (both orally and in writing) with the Church Community; Ability to abide by the moral and ethical norms of the Roman catholic church and to share in the same general convenant relationship to minister to the people of God and to model to the larger community the teachings of the Church; and Such alternatives to the above requirements as the Pastor of the Church may deem reasonably appropriate and acceptable. Programs to be Included within the Catechetical Program

Elementary (Grades 1 thru 5) Religious Education Middle School (Grades 7 thru 8) Religious Education High School/Youth Religious Education Sacramental Preparation Programs (Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation) Parish ministry training relevant to the Catechetical Program for Church staff, volunteers and other leaders Required Education, Training And Experience

A baccalaureate or higher degree in theology, liturgy or pastoral studies or equivalent education and/or experience. Completion of the Diocesan Application for Ministry and receipt of a satisfactory background check; Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period. Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License Physical Demand And Work Environment

Working Conditions

All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church. The Parish is an at-will employer. All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free. Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required. Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations. Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards. May be required to use personal or parish vehicle to drive to off-site locations. Traveling within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may require overnight lodging. Seniority level
