Overview: Performs supervisory and administrative tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to address security and school safety needs. Responsible for coordinating a comprehensive school safety program, including working with local law enforcement to monitor and coordinate the school resource officer program. Works with the cabinet, school administrators, and community on all areas of school safety. Develops and monitors the school safety area of the school improvement plans and develops training for site‑based administrators. Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, Public or Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or another related field Texas Principal Certification or other appropriate Texas certification, preferred Clear and valid Texas driver’s license Assist campus administrators with fair and consistent administration of discipline policies and discretionary disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placements Special Knowledge/Skills: Experience in school administration; ability to train, plan, and implement the Incident Command System; ability to relate to a wide variety of people and provide leadership; strong decision‑making, budget experience, and resource management skills; excellent written and verbal communication, including crisis communication; experience working and leading in a K‑12 school environment Major Responsibilities and Duties

Safety

Plan, develop, recommend, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and programs related to safety practices at school Develop in‑service training programs for security and school personnel to support policy enforcement, fire safety, and accident prevention Collaborate with District staff to provide leadership and program management oversight of capital efforts to equip schools with assets to ensure safety Serve as a central resource in response to security, safety concerns, or questions Conduct planning and research activities related to public safety in a public school system environment Provide security training for all levels and departments Effectively evaluate the performance of security and safety personnel Administration

Set overall strategic direction of the department and develop/implement long‑range goals and objectives Monitor the implementation of the district’s school safety plan program to comply with Texas standards Make data‑based decisions about organizing and aligning resources to maximize safety of students, staff, and communities Develop and continuously improve policies and protocols to support emergency response and a safe school climate Evaluate department performance relative to strategic goals; report progress to learning communities, the Superintendent, and key stakeholders Lead and evaluate all safety and security department activities and initiatives Develop and administer the department budget Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal mandates related to school safety Provide leadership during critical incidents and recruit/select qualified safety personnel in collaboration with administrators Address attendance/truancy protocols as part of safety responsibilities Communication

Collaborate with internal and external personnel to plan standardized responses to critical incidents Provide leadership for the development of educational programs for students and staff in crime, accident, and fire prevention Develop and nurture relationships with local and state law and safety agencies Engage school communities in setting safety priorities, defining roles and responsibilities, building capability, and creating accountability for a safe and effective climate Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
