Santa Barbara County Probation Department is dedicated to promoting public safety and fostering positive change in our community. The department operates four field service offices, two Adult Probation Report and Resource Centers, and one Juvenile Justice Center. The Chief Probation Officer has overall responsibility for the Department, with three sworn Deputy Chief Probation Officers overseeing specific divisions: Adult Community Supervision Services; Adult Pretrial and Court Services; and Juvenile Services and Facilities, plus Fiscal, Revenue Recovery, Professional Standards Unit, and Information Technology. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chief Probation Officer, the Deputy Chief Probation Officer (DCPO) will plan, organize, and direct the activities of a Division within the Probation Department. This includes but is not limited to: implementing policy as determined by the Chief Probation Officer; acting for the Chief Probation Officer during absences; chairing countywide and multidisciplinary workgroups; and performing related work as required. As a member of the executive team, the DCPO is responsible for embracing innovation, providing vision and guidance to meet current challenges, and shaping the Department for the future while maintaining or exceeding the current standard of excellence. The DCPO will lead, oversee, and manage divisions and programs, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and strategies. Qualifications
Requires equivalence to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a related field, and seven years of progressively responsible probation or parole experience, four years of which include management of programs and staff within criminal probation or parole; correctional, rehabilitative and/or detention institutions; or criminal justice programs. Senior management supervision experience is required, including managing supervisors who in turn supervise probation officers. Salary
Salary range: $167,514 to $213,790 DOQ Application
