About the Position: The Sheriff's Department is currently recruiting for Sheriff's Commander (Law Enforcement). This is a solid career progression and management opportunity for current Sheriff's Captains for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff's Commander is the highest sworn classification in the Sheriff's Department. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator who demonstrates ethical behavior by holding themself and others accountable. Management certification is highly desirable.

Sheriff Captains who have obtained a Peace Officer Standards and Training Management Certificate shall be compensated at eleven percent (17%) above the base hourly wage rate.

Education and/or Experience: General Option:

One (1) year of service as a Sheriff's Captain with the County of San Diego; AND, successful completion of the required California P.O.S.T. Management Course (Title II, Chapter 2, Section 1005c of the Administrative Code of California). IMPORTANT NOTES:
