The Department of Family Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator to join our team. This position supports PRIME Lab in its mission to promote health equity by studying how to transform and optimize the delivery of primary healthcare. Studies may partner with clinics across the Pacific Northwest to test and implement evidence-based treatments in primary care, improve quality improvement capacity within practices, and leverage electronic health records to improve health. Research projects may include, but are not limited to, studies in sinusitis, integrated mental health, addiction, chronic health conditions, loneliness and multisite trials. Multiple projects may be in progress simultaneously, with potential for additional projects in the future. The Research Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Lead Research Scientist and contribute to the research agenda of multiple investigators. Responsibilities
Develop and verify complex study protocols and investigative procedures across multiple levels (patient, clinician, health system) to accomplish research goals; track and monitor multiple activities for projects simultaneously. Provide primary project management duties with support from the supervisor to meet research milestones at multiple clinical sites from start-up to close-out. Gather and synthesize information from diverse patient stakeholders, clinical collaborators, and co-investigators; leverage insights to strategically align partnerships in support of research aims. This Research Coordinator role is crucial for ensuring that the UW School of Medicine stays at the forefront of innovative research in integrating behavioral health, loneliness, chronic pain, and substance use disorder care in primary care, and for implementing evidence-based practices in primary care. Duties And Responsibilities
Coordinate day-to-day research operations, including participant recruitment, data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and tracking research milestones. Develop timelines and project plans; utilize project management software to monitor activities and drive progress. (20% of time) Coordinate internal and external communications among project teams, collaborating institutions, investigators, and sponsors; facilitate connections between collaborators and clinical sites; ensure sites meet recruitment targets and maintain fidelity to procedures. Provide support to faculty, staff, and trainees across multiple domains: post-award activities (approvals for purchases, vendor agreements, reimbursements), IRB submissions/modifications/reliance agreements, and drafting progress reports; pre-award activities (stakeholder convening, contributing to grant proposals, preliminary IRB approvals). Develop surveys and data collection procedures; manage REDCap databases; identify existing tools and validated measures; perform routine data quality checks and assist with data analysis. Contribute to development and editing of manuscripts, posters, and presentations; perform literature reviews and reference existing literature. Direct patient engagement by cultivating relationships with community-based organizations; design interview and focus group guides; facilitate conversations; support qualitative data analysis; recruit, screen, obtain consent, and collect data from participants; develop recruitment materials and HIPAA authorizations when applicable. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Desired Qualifications
Experience or interest in primary care practice-based research Experience using UW systems and processes in support of research Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet, MS Project) Experience with electronic data management and analysis tools (e.g., REDCap, R) Experience in research project coordination; supporting IRB development and submissions Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with a multidisciplinary team Compensation and Benefits
