Policy Manager, Safety & Civility - Trust and Safety

The Trust & Safety Policy team at TikTok helps ensure that our global community is safe and empowered to create and enjoy content across all of our apps, while protecting our brand. As a member of our Trust & Safety Policy Development team, you will serve as a TikTok content expert with a focus on Safety & Civility (hate speech, hateful behaviors, harassment, bullying, violent extremism, criminal behaviors, youth and adult exploitation and abuse). Responsibilities Craft new and/or update existing content policies that focus on Safety & Civility for our global community on the TikTok platform Collaborate with Policy Enforcement, Regional Policy, and Product teams to improve content policies and streamline enforcement and processes Engage with Legal and Public Policy teams to ensure compliance with key regulations and be a consultant for any potential new regulations or government regulatory requests Act as a global escalation point of contact when necessary, and align all stakeholders and leadership to respond to emergency policy decisions Remain up-to-date on industry trends and emerging issues in the Safety & Civility space and design policies & policy positions to address them on platform where necessary Serve as the subject matter expert representative for Safety & Civility efforts, in coordination with Regional Policy, Public Policy, Comms, and/or Outreach & Partnerships Engage with external stakeholders to incorporate outside expertise into TikTok’s platform policies Support the execution of the strategic vision for the Safety & Civility team, working cross-functionally with other team members to optimize policy iteration, implementation and training procedures to deliver high-quality results Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Minimum 5 years experience in Public Policy, Human Rights, Policy Enforcement, Law, Academia or related field 2+ years of experience in topics related to Safety & Civility (e.g., hateful behaviors, law, human rights, politics) Content knowledge around some or all of the following: hateful speech/behaviors, violent extremism, extremist ideologies Deep understanding of technology, Internet, social media and/or platform content issues Ability to think both strategically and tactically, and thrive in a fast-paced environment Excellent writing skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in launching new strategies and Zero-to-One initiatives Advanced degree in law, public policy, political science, sociology, or other related field Proficiency in data-driven policy analysis and related enforcement/technical expertise Previous experience working within a fast-paced environment About TikTok TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video. Job Information The base salary range for this position is $117,334 - $270,000 annually.
