Manufacturing ERP/MRP Systems Software Engineer
LHH Recruitment Solutions has a Manufacturing ERP/MRP Systems Software Engineer opportunity for our client in the Raritan Township, NJ area.
This direct-hire role focuses on made-to-order workflows and made-to-order stock. It is an on-site, hands-on software engineering role addressing a broad range of power products, power electronics, semiconductors, all in development and manufacturing in an OEM environment.
The Manufacturing Business Systems Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining production software that supports our ERP, MRP, and MPS systems. This includes building solutions across PostgreSQL databases, FastAPI-based APIs, AppSmith services, data pipelines, and shop-floor system integrations.
This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on development—not configuration or analysis.
Salary range: $120,000 to $140,000 DOE.
Responsibilities
Manage master data and MRP/MPS configuration and adjustments.
Manage item attributes and lead times.
Develop and maintain APIs using FastAPI and build services with Python and AppSmith to seamlessly integrate operations across the production environment.
Design and implement systems that support manufacturing best practices, including FIFO, lot tracking, and real-time inventory monitoring throughout the production process.
Proficiency in Python and experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database design.
Experience working with ERP/MRP/MPS systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with AppSmith or similar low-code platforms.
Understanding of data pipelines and system integrations.
Ability to work in a Linux-based development environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities across technical and non-technical teams.
Plan and release production & purchase orders that meet customer demands.
Manage and optimize capacity and inventory.
Oversee cycle-counts, stockroom transactions and root-cause analysis on variances.
Create and set objectives, evaluate performance, and assist in building and leading cross-training.
Collaborate with purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and engineering to align schedules and resolve shortages.
Support NPI and drive resolution of material and process non-conformances.
Manage the NPR workflow, lead collaborative root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Manage revision changes and prototype gating; activate new part revisions and shepherd prototypes through the approved workflow.
Confirm all documentation, approvals, and BOM updates before full production.
Drive continuous improvement, identify cost-reduction opportunities, streamline material flow, and support lean/5S initiatives.
Report KPIs (OTIF, inventory turns, schedule adherence) and present data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
5+ years in materials planning, production control, or supply-chain management within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of owning and maintaining production-level systems.
Expertise in SQL and PostgreSQL, including query optimization, performance tuning, schema design, and database migrations.
Proven success launching and optimizing MRP/MPS modules and governing master data.
Proven proficiency with ERP systems data-analysis skills.
Experience developing backend services and data pipelines with automated testing and CI/CD workflows in a Linux environment; proficient with Git and Docker.
Current working knowledge of BOM/routing structures.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project-management abilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
