Job Overview
The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join their team as an Assistant Telecommunications Engineer or Electrical Engineer. The Public Safety Communications (PSC), Microwave Engineering Services, CAPSNET Access unit is responsible for a wide array of engineering activities and services related to public safety communications systems engineering and design for public safety agencies. Responsibilities
Assistant Telecommunications Engineer:
Provides direction to maintenance technical staff for the design, installation, and maintenance of statewide telecommunications systems. Develops technical reports and equipment selection criteria, provides project cost estimates, and notifies the supervisor of risks to the project’s budget, schedule, and scope. Electrical Engineer:
Assists the Associate and Senior engineers in telecommunications engineering work in connection with design, installation, maintenance, and operation of statewide telecommunications systems. Participates in developing technical reports and equipment selection criteria, providing project cost estimates, and notifying the supervisor of risks to project budget, schedule, or scope. Desirable Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year planning, documenting, and/or coordinating installation of telecommunications or networking equipment. Familiarity and/or expertise with site investigation and documentation for telecom equipment installations. Experience planning or implementing plans for customer telecom needs. DC Power system installations. Radio installation and/or troubleshooting experience. Experience successfully using oral and written communications skills to present and/or create test reports and/or installation instructions for radio or IP-based communication systems. Ability to be an effective contributor on multi-disciplinary collaborative projects. Working Conditions
Hybrid Telework:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in-office days may be required based on the business need. DMV Pull Program:
Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). Conflict of Interest (COI):
This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Department Information
