Manager of Technical Pre-Sales Support – BESS & Tracker

Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA) specializes in providing utility-scale modules, solar photovoltaic (PV), and battery energy storage systems (BESS) project development, along with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services for solar and BESS projects nationwide.
Summary
The Manager of Technical Pre-Sales Support will serve as a key technical interface between Qcells’ commercial organization and its utility-scale customers across solar PV and energy storage segments. This role is responsible for translating complex customer requirements into technically viable and commercially optimized solutions, supporting the pursuit of new EPC and equipment-only opportunities. Essential Job Function & Responsibilities
Serve as a technical subject matter expert for customer-facing sales support for utility-scale PV, tracker, and BESS opportunities. Develop technical proposals including system configurations, single-line diagrams, and layout concepts for solar and BESS projects. Support the preparation of technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and due diligence requests in collaboration with sales and other internal teams. Contribute to the development of BESS sizing models and performance analyses, tailored to specific customer use cases and interconnection requirements. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to provide input on customer needs and ensure alignment between technical solutions and project requirements. Analyze customer requirements to inform system architecture and support commercial strategies. Conduct technical presentations and participate in customer meetings to effectively communicate Qcells' capabilities and value proposition. Monitor relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., UL9540A, NFPA 855) impacting PV and BESS system design. Assist with the hand-off process to project execution teams, ensuring continuity of technical information and customer expectations. Participate in internal initiatives to improve technical sales processes and tools. Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position. Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree is a plus. Minimum 5 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with at least 1 year focused on BESS project support or design. Solid understanding of BESS system components (e.g., battery racks, PCS, BMS, EMS) and relevant integration concepts. Familiarity with PV system design and performance tools (e.g., Helioscope, PVSyst, AutoCAD). Ability to interpret customer specifications, interconnection requirements, and performance guarantees to support the creation of technical designs. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to various audiences. A collaborative and detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering effective solutions. Experience working in a cross-functional environment, interacting with sales, engineering, and construction teams. Knowledge of key industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL, and NFPA) relevant to solar and BESS projects. Physical Demands
Stationary Position: frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sitting up to 8 hours in a day Move/Traverse: infrequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk Carry Weight: infrequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 10 pounds Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors Travel: up to 30% as needed Work Environment
