Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer – Mission Effectiveness/Ops Analysis to join our Systems Engineering team. This role supports the Systems Engineering Integration (SEI) Integrated Product Team (IPT) within Melbourne, FL. Key Responsibilities
Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to support program development, execution, and related research and development projects Develop mission-relevant scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and/or emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments Develop or integrate system simulation frameworks and components (air vehicle platform, kinematics, sensors, communications, C2, weapons, threat models) and related algorithms Analyze and test next-generation tactical assets within an advanced threat environment Develop software to simulate real-time operations and behavior of systems for virtual simulation (man-in-the-loop) testing Model operational environments and perform trade studies via computer simulation, recommending alternative system architectures and configurations Support the design and development of visualization models and databases for integration with a high-fidelity simulation environment Support evaluations to determine the best frameworks, hardware, capabilities, and tools for simulations and experiences that enhance the Virtual Simulation product Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements Communicate across engineering disciplines to integrate capabilities Work independently or in team settings according to project needs Interpret modeling and simulation results, algorithms, and formulas and communicate their significance clearly Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in a STEM field and 5 years of related professional/military experience OR Master of Science in a STEM field and 3 years of related experience OR STEM Ph.D. and 1 year of related experience Ability to obtain and maintain the final adjudicated DoD Secret clearance and any required program access within a reasonable period Experience with operations analysis and/or virtual simulation tools (e.g., AFSIM, Brawler, STK, MATLAB) Experience with MBSE modeling tools (e.g., Cameo) Experience with NGTS, AFSIM, Brawler, and/or FORTRAN Preferred Qualifications
Experience collaborating on multi-team projects and managing relationships through effective communication Advanced degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science Experience in weapon system design, integration, test, and evaluation Understanding of Integrated Air Defense Systems and capabilities Ability to translate physics/mathematics models into real-time simulation algorithms Experience with real-time simulation/software development Experience with Agile workflows using Atlassian Suite (Jira, Bitbucket) Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes Ability to clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences Active Top Secret Clearance Compensation and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00. The salary range is a guideline and may reflect scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and Long Term Incentives.
