Your Team & Role As a Software Engineer in the Chief Investment Office, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers, and delivery professionals to improve our investment and risk management platforms. You will code, test, and debug new and existing applications as you implement capabilities to solve sophisticated business problems and deploy products, services, and experiences to delight our customers. You will bring problem solving, communication, teamwork, agile ways of working, business insight, inclusive leadership, and a continuous learning focus to your work.

Responsibilities

Build applications ensuring code follows latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; actively code against the roadmap.

Develop high quality, well documented and efficient code adhering to Prudential standards.

Collaborate with product owners to understand needs and define feature stories; work with tech leads to define technical design and with team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions with business impact.

Write unit, integration tests and functional automation; research problems identified by QA or product support and develop solutions.

Apply understanding of relevant and emerging technologies; identify opportunities to contribute input to the team, coach others, and embed learning and innovation in day-to-day work.

Work on complex problems that require in-depth evaluation of data and factors.

Use programming languages including Python, Java, or JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Spring Boot, and Node.js.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring

Bachelor of Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field.

Leverage diverse ideas and perspectives to benefit the organization.

Experience with agile development methodologies.

Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes needed for sound decisions in the company\'s business context.

Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges.

General knowledge of common financial instruments and asset classes.

Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.

Strong ability to troubleshoot production issues and research/analyze potential fixes.

Applied experience with several of the following:

Programming Languages:

Java, Typescript, HTML, CSS, SQL

Development Frameworks/Libraries:

Angular/AngularJS, Node.js, Spring and Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, Maven, Ant

Databases:

Writing SQL scripts for Relational Databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), CRUD operations

APIs:

API development in a microservices architecture; REST APIs, JSON, XML

DevOps/CI-CD Tools:

Git, Bitbucket; Docker/AWS/Jenkins are highly preferred

SDLC:

Agile/Scrum; proficient with Jira/Confluence

Capable of working under pressure, independently identifying problems and collaborating with teammates to develop effective solutions

Preferred qualifications:

SSIS packages and Python

AWS Development

Architecture Patterns

Angular UI is highly preferred

Financial/Insurance industry knowledge is a plus

Salary range for this role: $85,100.00 to $126,500.00, with variable factors based on location, experience, and skills.
