Overview
The role of the Subject Matter Expert I is to provide specific Navy Information Warfare Center (NIWC) technical support for various projects within the Chesapeake Ops environment. Includes: communication systems (radios), networking systems (routers/switches), cyber operations (red team/forensics/network defense), intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (sensors/decision support applications), business systems (benefits/personnel) and information security.
Work Model: Onsite/Office-Based
Responsibilities
Provides support for communication systems (radios), networking systems (routers/switches), cyber operations (red team/forensics/network defense), intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (sensors/decision support applications), business systems (benefits/personnel), and information security.
Provides day-to-day In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) support to NIWC and other activities on multiple projects.
Provides support to Fleet activities.
Works with customers primarily in a solitary environment.
Performs related work as assigned in an unsupervised, reactive/mission-critical environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountable For
We expect this employee to be knowledgeable in various Fleet systems.
We expect this work to be conducted in a timely and professional manner.
We expect the employee to be a self-starter and to pursue self-education to remain current with industry trends, new technology, new equipment, and capabilities.
We expect the employee to keep managers and supervisors apprised of their progress, maintain the ability to work well with others, adhere to contract requirements, and comply with company policies and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Job Requirements Mandatory:
U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance within 12 months of hire date.
Eight (8) years' technical experience in military, contracting, or commercial areas.
Must have electronic systems troubleshooting and repair experience.
Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
Working Conditions
Shipyard Industrial.
Outdoor exposed to weather.
Working from heights.
Working around grinding and welding.
Climbing and working from ladders.
Working in a space not climate-controlled.
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Climb ladders.
Work in hot, cold, and inclement weather.
