Plant Controller

Winpak . We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Plant Controller to join our leadership team and serve as the financial steward of our Pekin, Illinois manufacturing facility. In this role, you’ll lead plant accounting operations, mentor a high-performing team, and provide strategic insights that help drive operational and financial excellence. The Plant Controller ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains robust internal controls, and translates complex financial data into actionable business strategies. This is a highly visible onsite role that blends technical accounting expertise with operational insight to influence key business decisions.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all plant accounting functions, including cost and inventory accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting/analysis.
Supervise and mentor a team including a Cost Accountant, Staff Accountant, and Accounts Payable Technician.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes while maintaining compliance with IFRS and company policies.
Partner with plant leadership to provide financial guidance on cost reduction, capacity planning, capital investment payback, and resource allocation.
Develop and maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance and coordinating audits with internal and external auditors.
Lead annual budgeting, long-term strategic planning, and quarterly forecasting processes.
Analyze complex manufacturing and financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Support ERP system improvements and maintain reliable costing models.
Collaborate with finance peers across the organization to share best practices and align corporate initiatives.
Act as financial lead for capital expenditure justifications, including commercial and operations excellence considerations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA or CMA designation highly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Proven leadership skills with prior team management experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts in practical terms.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); ERP system experience preferred.
Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Additional Details
This position has occasional travel.
This position offers a competitive relocation package for the right candidate.
Compensation The compensation range is
$115,000-$135,000
and is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate\'s experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
