Overview Mortenson's Data Center Solutions Team is seeking a Senior Project Operations Accountant with the ability to interact with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate will provide accounting, analysis, and financial partnership to a project team, and perform various accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Implement construction contract requirements for larger and/or more complex projects, utilizing contract summaries to oversee project budget, approved change orders, and budget transfers
Perform budget allocations ensuring conformity with contract terms, and assist project manager in preparing monthly financial projections, including potential cost issues
Provide assistance in complying with contract requirements such as certified payroll reporting, minority participation reporting, and maintaining project insurance
Process and/or supervise receivables to ensure favorable project cash flow, prepare cost-plus or GMP contract billings, and ensure timely posting of cash receipts
Work with project team to assure timely payment receipt and elevate awareness of financial implications that can be addressed or reversed
Process and/or supervise payables with accurate application of sales and use tax requirements, set up new vendors, coordinate payments, and process subcontractor applications
Ensure all project costs (equipment, material, supplies, misc.) are processed, and conduct project cost analyses and reporting for project team and leadership
Understand and identify factors impacting project costs, assist with financial and specialized reporting, and review certified payroll reports for accuracy
Understand labor cost components in the project's geographic area, including union agreements, benefit programs, and prevailing wage requirements
Answer general system questions, represent Mortenson’s interests with project auditors, and assist with annual and special audits as necessary
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience in Project Accounting
Minimum seven years of accounting experience, with at least two years in construction or manufacturing preferred
Experience with Oracle, job costing, and large projects is a plus
Strong understanding of complex construction business concepts
Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple concurrent projects
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Oracle Cloud, and Procore
Effective communication and active listening skills across diverse organizational levels and backgrounds

Pay The base pay range for this role is $83,700 - $125,600. Note: Actual range may vary by location (Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, DC adjustments mentioned in original posting).
