Our client is seeking a Financial Controller to join their corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of an organization that operates across multiple states and employs hundreds of dedicated professionals. As Financial Controller, you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of financial management, from corporate accounting and regulatory compliance to budget preparation and internal control enhancement. Key Responsibilities

Oversee and enhance operational processes and procedures that support accurate accounting transactions, recordkeeping, and robust internal controls across the organization. Manage all core accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cash Management, and General Ledger while supervising a team of five direct reports. Support the month-end and year-end close process by ensuring timely reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial statements. Prepare and publish monthly financial statements that provide clear insights into organizational performance for executive review. Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition activities including customer billings, job costs analysis, project contract tracking, profit calculations, and cost/billings reconciliations. Collaborate closely with Project Management teams on monthly gain/loss reporting to ensure accurate reflection of project profitability. Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements as well as tax filings related to payroll, sales/use taxes, and unemployment insurance. Prepare the annual overhead budget while monitoring monthly variances to provide actionable insights for business planning. Coordinate annual external audits as well as any additional audits required by regulatory bodies or internal stakeholders. Undertake other duties as assigned by senior leadership to support the evolving needs of the finance department. Key Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required to ensure foundational knowledge of core principles relevant to this position. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is essential for demonstrating advanced expertise in accounting standards and practices. At least ten years' experience in accounting roles with significant exposure to construction industry practices preferred for understanding sector-specific challenges. Minimum five years' experience managing people within an accounting function is necessary for effective team leadership. Proven track record in preparing accurate financial reports that meet regulatory requirements is vital for maintaining compliance. Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills are needed to convey complex information clearly to both finance professionals and non-finance stakeholders. Impeccable analytical abilities combined with outstanding organizational skills are crucial for handling multiple priorities efficiently.
