Commercial construction General Contractor with the corporate headquarters located in Houston, Texas, seeking a Corporate Controller. The Company currently employs ~800 employees with offices in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Denver, CO, and the Washington DC area. We are looking for an experienced controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as enhancement of internal control policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Enhance and oversee existing operational processes and procedures necessary to support accounting of transactions, recordkeeping and internal controls Manage all accounting functions: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cash Management, General Ledger (consisting of 5 direct reports) Support the month-end and year-end close process Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements Manage WIP and revenue recognition, including customer billings, job costs, costs to complete, project contract amounts, project profit and costs/billings in excess Work with Project Management on Monthly gain/loss reporting Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings (payroll, sales and use, unemployment) Prepare annual overhead budget and monitor and report monthly variances Coordinate the annual audit and any other audits as required Other duties as assigned Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting 10 years’ experience in Accounting, Construction Accounting preferred 5 years’ experience in managing people Experience in financial reporting Strong communications skills: oral, written, presentation Impeccable analytical and organizational skills Ability to work with a senior management team Salary/Benefits
$175,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience, plus potential bonus Health, dental, Life/AD&D, and LTD benefits (Company pays 100% of employee-only coverage) Voluntary short-term disability, vision, life, and AD&D insurance 401k with Company match up to 3% Paid Time Off (3 Weeks) in addition to customary US Holidays Two (2) floating holidays Reimbursement of necessary and approved CPE expenses Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer Will talk and hear to communicate May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 35 lbs Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
