Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an opportunity for a Principal Global Engineer Systems (25-468 & 25-469) to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL. This position supports the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not offer relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position and Location The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program provides an operational platform to plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, connecting autonomous sensor and weapon systems to enhance performance and supporting ground and flight tests to verify capabilities.
Responsibilities
Develop use cases and prepare systems engineering artifacts to implement customer-requested capabilities.
Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), architectural documentation, and system engineering estimates.
Author and conduct formal and informal engineering reviews.
Engage with internal and external customers, representing the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues.
Essential Functions
Review content and details of technical products and serve as a technical interface to MDA counterparts as needed.
Collaborate as part of an integrated Systems Engineering team to develop and maintain physical, functional, and technical requirements for the evolving MDS C2BMC system.
Demonstrate experience in mission analysis, including developing use cases and sequence diagrams.
Support various tasks on short notice under guidance of technical leads and product owners.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (e.g., Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) or related field from an accredited university with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
Applicants must have a current, active DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, with potential to upgrade to Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
Skills include: requirements elicitation, derivation, decomposition to lower-level subsystems, maintaining baselines in a requirements management system, defining connections between components, and communicating use cases to diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering.
INCOSE CSEP Certification.
OGS S Modeling Professional (OCSMP - MBF) certification.
Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility strongly desired.
DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, CISSP, etc.).
Experience leading teams to establish a system engineering baseline and working with Space Domain and Missile Defense Systems.
Experience with Agile methods and features definition; knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security accreditation is desirable.
