Our client, a mission-driven senior services organization in Mount Vernon, NY is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead their day-to-day accounting operations and a small finance team, ensuring GAAP/GAAS compliance, timely reporting, sound internal controls, and strong support for budgeting, audits, payroll, and management decision-making in a nonprofit healthcare environment. Base pay
$135,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Own month- and year-end close; manage GL, AP/AR, cash receipts, payroll Maintain books and ledgers for the organization and affiliates; perform balance-sheet and expense analyses and variance reviews Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and PBJ submissions Lead annual budgeting/forecasting; monitor performance and drive cost-containment/revenue-maximization initiatives Prepare for and manage annual financial audits; ensure compliance with changing accounting standards and regulations Establish/monitor internal controls and approve required compliance filings Supervise and develop finance staff (about 6); set goals, coach, evaluate performance Ensure payroll practices align with HR policies and collective bargaining agreements Participate in cross-functional meetings/committees as needed Qualifications
MBA in Accounting (or Accounting/Business/Finance) required 5+ years’ accounting experience in nonprofit healthcare; skilled nursing home experience preferred Prior team management/supervision required CPA preferred (not required) Skills And Tools
Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office/database reporting skills Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Reporting, Kronos, NetSmart, Beacon/Yardi, and Matrix Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills; high integrity and confidentiality; detail- and results-oriented
