The National Aquarium is seeking a
Financial Analyst
to support the annual planning process and quarterly forecasts, manage long-term capital planning updates, and prepare and analyze financial reports. The role provides actionable insights to the VP of Finance & Capital Planning, COFO, CEO, and other key stakeholders on the Aquarium’s financial performance. Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis: Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes; partner with department and team leaders to facilitate operating budgets and forecasts. Budget development, submission, maintenance, monitoring, and revision; report and analyze financial activity (revenue/expenses) to identify risks and opportunities; support long-term financial planning through scenario modeling; conduct ad hoc analyses to support leadership decisions. Capital Planning & Project Support: Manage and maintain the 10-year capital list with updates, reconciliations, and reporting; provide financial tracking and reporting for capital construction projects; assist in tracking funding sources and financing strategies. Reporting & Communication: Prepare and present financial and budgetary reports for leadership, the Board, and committees; coordinate supporting materials and presentations; partner with department leaders to support operating and capital budgets; proactively communicate with stakeholders to analyze information needs. Administrative & VP Support: Assist the VP with administrative tasks, scheduling, meeting prep, note-taking, follow-up on action items; manage documents, contracts, and financial/project files; coordinate deadlines and deliverables; uphold organizational policies; perform other duties as required. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, or accounting. 5–8 years of experience in business/financial analytics or budget management, with leadership experience for executives. Financial modeling skills (rolling forecasting, scenario planning, etc.). Experience with not-for-profit organizations is preferred. Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to digest financial data using tools such as Excel and present findings to stakeholders. Experience with software solutions such as Sage Intacct, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Office Connect. High initiative and self-motivation; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Total Compensation Information: Salary range
$58,660-$71,399
annually. National Aquarium offers a comprehensive benefits package, including four weeks of paid time off, six paid floating holidays, up to four weeks of paid family leave, health care eligibility after 30 days of full-time work, conservation day leave, and a 401(k) plan with employer match.
