Senior Controller | DG Solar | NYC
We have partnered with a DG Solar & BESS IPP in their search for a Senior Controller. They are a leading independent power producer committed to developing, owning, and operating high-quality solar projects across the U.S.
The Senior Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, supporting growth initiatives, compliance, and efficient scaling of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and consolidations. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. Coordinate annual audit process and manage external auditors. Partner with FP&A and commercial teams to provide financial insights into performance and business initiatives. Support project-level accounting for solar assets, including revenue recognition, debt compliance, and tax equity requirements. Mentor and manage accounting staff, fostering professional development and continuous improvement. Contribute to systems and process improvements to support rapid portfolio growth. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred). 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; Big 4 or national public accounting experience a plus. Experience in the energy, infrastructure, or renewable power sector strongly preferred. Familiarity with project finance structures, including tax equity and debt financing, highly desirable. Proven track record of managing financial reporting, controls, and audits in a growing business. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Base pay range: $200,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr Full-time position as Director in Finance, Accounting/Auditing, and Management.
