Overview
Position Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial processes, including journal entries, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll (using automated systems). This role requires a detail-oriented professional with advanced accounting expertise to support financial reporting, compliance, and strategic decision-making for our two operating assets. Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with GAAP. Oversee accounts payable (AP) processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense tracking to optimize cash flow. Manage accounts receivable (AR) functions, including invoicing, collections, and preparing AR aging reports to monitor receivables. Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, merchant, and balance sheet accounts) to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies. Generate accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and ad hoc reports for management and stakeholders. Process payroll using automated systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex), ensuring accurate recording of earnings, deductions, and tax compliance. Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries. Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements. Support budgeting, forecasting, and special projects to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus. 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in [Insert Industry, e.g., real estate, hospitality, or technology]. Proven expertise in journal entries, AP, AR, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and automated payroll systems. Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory financial compliance. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
