Montefiore is seeking an Employment Counsel to assist with providing guidance to the various departments within Human Resources including Total Rewards, Recruitment, Labor & Employee Relations and Learning. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in Human Resources specializing in employment law and employee relations issues including extensive experience in responding to discrimination complaints. The candidate will be well versed in local, state and federal employment and labor laws. Must have the ability to work independently establish, maintain working relationships, interpret complex rules, contracts, arbitration awards and other official mandates. Responsibilities
Responding to charges and complaints of discrimination filed with the NY City Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), NY State Division of Human Rights (SDHR) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Conducting hearings and/or negotiating settlements with the CCHR, SDHR, EEOC. Providing advice on internal investigations and unemployment hearings. Assisting with the review and determination of reasonable accommodation requests. Assisting with drafting, reviewing and updating HR policies. Drafting and conducting trainings. Requirements
JD Required. 4-6 years Required. Candidates must have strong writing, analytic, interpersonal, investigative and communication skills and must also be proactive. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint. Work is performed on site; work could require visits to various Montefiore sites. Healthcare background is preferred.
