Under general direction, coordinates, supervises, and manages one or more functions of an operational or administrative unit of the Court and may assist in the overall administration of a major division of the Court. This classification serves in a management capacity, and is responsible for overseeing complex personnel matters and leading and developing teams in an operational and/or administrative unit of the Court including Court programs and projects. The classification works closely with judicial officers, Court staff, community partners, vendors and other related agencies.
Current Vacancy
The current vacancy is in the Facilities Department and is primarily an on-site assignment with eligibility for telework, related to Court facilities support. This assignment includes but is not limited to: Vendor management: tracking vendor performance against metrics such as code enforcement, quality, delivery time, and cost. Overseeing construction projects across all facilities, including maintenance, remodel, and space-planning. Overseeing building & personnel safety and security, including fire drills. After-hours support required (5% compensation differential). Manages one or more programs, projects, or functions; may assist in the overall administration of a Division. Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates activities of the program, project, or function directly and/or through subordinate supervisors. Performs supervisory duties, including training staff, assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and resolving employee grievances. Coordinates the work of the program, project, or function with other divisions or units. Interprets Court policies and procedures to staff and the public. Assists in preparing and administering the budget for the program, project, or function. Collects, compiles, verifies, and presents data. Performs other related duties as required. Education and Experience Education: A Bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the required degree. Experience: Four years of progressive experience in a relevant field, plus two years in a supervisory position that involves exercising independent judgment and discretion. Knowledge Principles of administration, supervision, training, and office management; sufficient knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to the Court setting; legal forms and terminology; relevant State statutes and Local Rules of Court; functions, operating procedures, and relationships within the justice system including the Superior Court, law enforcement agencies, State and County Justice Partners, and union-represented employees. Ability Supervise, coordinate, train, evaluate, and direct staff and activities in a variety of responsibilities within a program, project, function in the Court; review legal documents and other documentary evidence for accuracy and compliance with legal procedures and formats; interpret and apply specific procedural law, rules, and policies; work well under pressure and meet multiple court deadlines; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; manage stakeholder or vendor expectations; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Working Conditions The work environment is generally clean inside buildings with limited exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and noise. Incumbents may work under difficult and stressful conditions with frequent deadlines and high workload; periodic contact with angry or confrontational individuals. Ability to work independently as well as with others is required. Essential Functions Specific tasks and duties vary by assignment, but the essential functions include: Frequent use of a computer terminal to perform advanced clerical functions and communications. Periodic contact with employees in other Court divisions, government agencies, the public, and/or vendors; respond to inquiries appropriately. Periodic to regular lifting, walking, and carrying of files and materials; ability to lift up to 10 lbs. Work with time constraints and under pressure in some situations. Physical Demands Strength, dexterity, and coordination to use a computer keyboard and read a video display terminal; listen to verbal requests and respond appropriately; occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs; ability to reach for items above and below desk level; standing and sitting for long periods as required. Examination A screening panel will be convened to select the most qualified applicants to participate in a written and/or oral examination, which may include application appraisal, written examination, and oral examination.
