Assistant Store Manager - Famous Footwear, a full-time leadership role focused on delivering the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You act as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager, and you are a people leader who motivates a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. You contribute to an in-store culture where customers feel valued and are loyal to the store, our brands, and the company. You stay informed about product trends and support the education of the store team to deliver an exceptional customer experience. You love shoes and help every customer experience the Famous Feeling. What You’ll Be Doing
Inspire the Customer Connection: foster a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery of both. Infuse coaching moments for the selling behaviors behind our Customer Connection. Champion Talent Discovery: actively seek out exceptional external talent and collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about delivering top-notch customer experiences. Ace Retail Operations & Support Staffing Levels: manage retail operations fundamentals (pricing, shipping processing, inventory) and support staffing decisions based on availability, peak days, and seasonal needs. Leverage Insights to Deliver Results: own goals and use insights to continually improve store performance; drive sales and work with the Store Manager to optimize results. Be a Culture Builder: promote diversity and inclusivity, maintain a positive mindset, and lead by example to boost retention and associate performance. Be our Store Manager’s Right Hand: when the Store Manager is away, step into leadership responsibilities, ensure compliance with company programs, and develop internal talent in partnership with the Store Manager. High School Diploma/GED. At least 1 year of sales experience (retail preferred). Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people. Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels. Ability to train, coach and develop associates to provide engaging customer experiences and execute tasks. Independent judgment in partnership with the Store Sales Manager. Strong cognitive skills: problem solving, analysis, decision making, and basic financial understanding. Advanced knowledge of general retail practices and procedures. Flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours. Basic computer skills. Physical Requirements And/or Environment
Regularly lift up to 40 lbs. with proper safety techniques. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting. Mobility on the sales floor for extended periods. Famous Footwear is part of Caleres Inc.,
