Position details
Location: Boston, MA
Employment type: Full-Time
Travel: Up to 25% for training purposes
Reports to: Service Manager
Responsibilities
Provide intermediate-level service, repair, and installation of foodservice equipment at customer locations.
On-site repair and maintenance limited to standard kitchen equipment and simple ice machines; work on other equipment is not included.
Perform intermediate troubleshooting and testing; survey safety devices and equipment regularly.
Manage and retain proper equipment, parts inventory, and tools on the service vehicle; ensure safe condition for the level of service.
Independently work on customers’ foodservice equipment; perform intermediate equipment and accessory installations.
Inspect equipment for safety; identify necessary repairs and provide ongoing preventative maintenance.
Manage inventory and perform periodic inventory of parts and materials.
Provide timely service reports via assigned tablet; contact Senior Service Techs for troubleshooting as needed.
Provide professional service and customer support during service calls and installations; understand customer requirements and build positive relationships.
Operate vehicles safely and use appropriate PPE; read and interpret equipment manuals; maintain documentation and inventory.
Inform management about work order status and assist with other duties as needed.
Qualifications & experience
High School diploma or equivalent
1–2 years of experience in commercial installation and/or service and repair of foodservice equipment, or equivalent military or practical experience
Technical/Trade school completion preferred; minimum one year hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration
Intermediate computer skills
EPA certifications Level 1 & 2 minimum; universal preferred
Valid Driver’s License; ability to pass background check post offer
Flexibility to work changing shifts
Competencies
Advanced communication with customers and management
Ability to work independently and multitask
Strong phone etiquette, verbal and written communication
Confident presentation skills for group communications
Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service foodservice equipment
Physical requirements
Lift up to 75 pounds
Bend, twist, stand for long periods, and handle tools
Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl as needed
