Position Summary

The Director of Estimating is responsible for analyzing project requirements and preparing accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and resources needed to complete projects, ensuring financial feasibility and alignment with business objectives, as well as all other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects by analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents. This includes calculating the costs of production, materials, labor, and equipment required for project completion. Project Analysis: Assess the feasibility and profitability of proposed projects, ensuring that estimates align with organizational goals. Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team, project managers, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and customers to gather necessary data for accurate and competitive bids. Data Management: Utilize historical data from past projects and productivity analysis to support current estimates. Maintain records of estimates and project costs for future reference. Technical Support: Provide guidance and support to junior estimators/application engineers and project team members regarding estimation processes and methodologies. Leads an estimating team, and will be responsible for performance management, hiring, training, and ongoing employee education and development. Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial management, business administration, or a related field. Will consider those with strong industry and technical experience in lieu of educational requirements. Familiar with estimation methodology, engineering principles and mathematics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project requirements and identify potential risks that could impact costs and timelines. Superior verbal and written communication skills to effectively interface with customers, sales team members, vendors, and other internal stakeholders. Prior experience in a leadership role.
