Associate Director
to join us in ideating and building the next generation of Programmable Medicines and lead a team of scientists. This position requires strong scientific leadership, a drive to innovate, and deep domain experience in the development of targeted lipid nanoparticles (tLNPs). You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment as part of a motivated and growing team. Key responsibilities
Lead lipid nanoparticle (tLNP) design, development, and formulation; specifically with respect to binder selection, characterization, and conjugation chemistry. Conjugation chemistry development, scaling, and translation. Define binder composition and characteristics for use in tLNP therapeutics; drive their selection and functionalization. Scale tLNP compositions in alignment with development progressing to IND. Experience in micro- to mid-scale LNP formulation using microfluidics platforms (e.g., Nanoassemblr) and small-scale DOE studies to assess protocol effects on yields and particle morphology. Purification and QC profiling and method development (DLS, HPLC/CAD, LCMS, encapsulation efficiency assays) focused on conjugation reactions and the final tLNP product. Familiarity with targeted LNP and nanocarriers for cell-specific delivery. Deep understanding of molecular biology and nucleic acid therapeutics; interface with multiple departments; general understanding of molecular biology, scale-up challenges, and in vivo study delivery. Proven track record of leadership and mentoring in a scientific setting; serve as a team lead guiding a talented group through complex, cross-functional projects; coach and develop team members and foster cross-department collaboration. Technical expert : Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or biomedical engineering with 5–8 years of industry experience focused on nucleic acid chemistry innovation, lipid synthesis and purification, and lipid nanoparticle formulation. Experienced manager and team leader : experience managing a team of research associates and junior scientists; passionate about mentoring and building an efficient, collaborative team. Mission-driven scientist : expert in lipid nanoparticle and nucleic acid formulation with a team-centered, fast-paced mindset and a drive to create impactful outcomes. Relentless pioneer : thrives in new territory, capable of actionable planning, rapid/iterative execution, and delivering decisive readouts on time.
