Position Responsibilities and Duties
Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working
Able to perform all essential Field Service Technician Levels 1-4 job responsibilities
Perform, direct, and supervise site maintenance, repair, troubleshooting as directed by management, adhering to company and industry safety standards
Ensure a safe working environment through strict adherence to and enforcement of company and industry safety standards
Implement repairs to unfamiliar solar equipment, systems and plants with a minimum amount of training and familiarization safely
Direct and take responsibility for safety regulations and work procedures for the team
Understand, follow and communicate safety regulations and work procedures
Supervise and provide ongoing training for Solar Technician Levels I, II, III, and IV
Prepare timely and accurate documentation and required reports related to site operation
Assess and suggest improved processes, collaborate on new technologies, and coordinate with EPC management regarding the implementation of these improvements
Uphold diversity and inclusion as an unconscious part of SOLV Energy culture
Respond “on-call” as directed by supervisor to assist in emergency equipment repairs
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; Vocational/Technical School training a plus
Minimum four years of experience in solar facility maintenance and repair
Advanced computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications
Advanced working knowledge of solar systems/plants, protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters and transformers
Ability to troubleshoot network and telemetry issues
Ability to pass exams on electrical schematics and symbols, electrical troubleshooting, and reading/interpreting hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
Effective computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications
Valid OSHA 30 certification
Valid NFPA 70E Safety Training certification
Remain current in all safety and technical trainings
Demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient and safe under any conditions
Effective verbal and written English communication skills
Effective organizational skills
Ability to work with PM, management, OCC, HV, SCADA, Performance, Networking/IT, Compliance teams
Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions
Ability to work on an “on call” basis (weekends or after-hours)
Ability to work with other technicians to complete tasks
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; ability to operate company vehicle
Ability to assess safety items and issue Stop Work if concerns are raised
Additional Skills or Experience Requirements
Ability to do monthly reporting for maintenance and performance
Ability to create and adhere to site-specific schedules
Know complete site scope and contract
Prioritize levels of response to issues across multiple plants and manage resources effectively
Work with Performance teams to meet availability guarantees and build risk management strategies
Interact with Asset managers and owner’s reps, organize conferences calls and onsite meetings, and keep them connected with facility operations
Take ownership of facilities and address owner questions and concerns
Provide detailed costs and services to PM teams for pricing and estimates
Find and work with vendors; understand scopes (e.g., electrical, landscaping, module washing)
Understand safety aspects of having other contractors onsite and safety requirements
Know proper handling of safety or security issues, and who to contact
Train other technicians and assess strengths/weaknesses on onsite items and monitoring platforms
Demonstrate leadership to inspire techs and maintain O&M environment
Strong verbal and written communications
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
Occasional exposure to weather, outdoor environments, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals
Frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 50 lbs. or more
Constant finger dexterity and ability to see details, hear, and communicate; depth perception
Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving parts, working in high or difficult-to-access places
Noise levels may be high
