Position We are currently seeking a Full Time Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations. AMC is seeking an operational and tactical Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations to manage our core technology systems and lead a talented technical team. Reporting to the CIO, this individual will be a key leader responsible for translating the company’s technology strategy into actionable plans and ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our IT environment. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on execution. You will drive the tactical implementation of our transition from an on-premises, Microsoft-based environment to a modern, cloud-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams, maturing operational processes, and delivering complex technical projects in alignment with executive vision.
Key Responsibilities
Execute the technology roadmap and strategic initiatives set forth by the CIO, managing projects from inception to completion.
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Manage the departmental budget for IT Infrastructure and Operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial guidelines.
Establish and mature IT governance, policies, and procedures based on industry best practices like ITIL.
Act as a key advisor to the CIO, providing insights and regular reporting on infrastructure health, project status, and operational performance.
Infrastructure & Cloud Migration: Oversee the lifecycle of IT infrastructure (servers, storage, networking, end-user computing) and lead the cloud migration strategy (primarily Microsoft Azure).
Lead the tactical planning and hands-on execution of the company’s cloud migration strategy, managing a hybrid environment during the transition.
Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of all critical IT systems and infrastructure.
Network & Security Operations: Architect, implement, and maintain a secure and resilient network infrastructure; lead cybersecurity programs and incident response; ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
IT Service Management (ITSM) & Operations: Implement and champion ITIL-based processes; oversee IT helpdesk; develop and monitor KPIs and SLAs; manage the administration of our core Microsoft technology stack.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related experience.
7 years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years in leadership or management roles.
Proven experience building or restructuring an IT department, including hiring staff, defining roles, and implementing processes.
Extensive hands-on experience managing a Microsoft Stack environment: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365 (including Entra ID/Azure AD), and Exchange Online.
Strong experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V).
Direct experience executing a significant cloud migration project, preferably to Microsoft Azure.
Deep understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs) and firewall configuration (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA).
Solid foundation in cybersecurity, including IAM, endpoint protection, SIEM, and DLP.
Understanding of ITIL fundamentals and ITSM frameworks.
Experience working within a larger IT leadership team and reporting to a CIO/VP.
Desired Certifications & Knowledge
Cloud: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Security: CISSP or CISM
Networking: CompTIA Network or CCNA
IT Service Management: ITIL Foundation Certification (or higher)
Microsoft: MCSA/MCSE (legacy) or other modern role-based certifications
Project Management: PMP is a plus
PowerShell scripting for automation; knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery planning
