Job Summary The Assistant Director, Technology Commercialization works under limited supervision to provide extensive experience and expertise in Cooperative Research and/or Licensing. The primary responsibility for this role is to be a leading technical expert for technology commercialization on our team. Works to consistently open doors, build trust and relationships, foster effective communication and facilitate collaboration with all of our internal and external partners in order to take scientific visions and turn them into tangible realities.

Experience and Education Required
Education : Master\u2019s Degree in Business, Science, Public Health, etc.
Experience : 7 years of experience in Cooperative Research and/or Licensing. Must have significant experience negotiating terms and producing completed agreements with a variety of academic, research, and industry partners. Proven track record of taking on and succeeding in challenging projects and environments.
Preferred
Education : PhD or J.D.
Job Duties
Serve as a leading technical expert for all-encompassing commercialization process and portfolio for the Office for Technology Development.
Provide leadership to the Office for Technology Development Partner Success team; coaching team of direct reports in both technical and non-technical skills, assigning individual portfolios, and appropriately distributing and monitoring work.
Work closely with Director of Technology Commercialization to:
Review and develop improved processes around technology commercialization
Work collaboratively with direct reports and other colleagues to implement improved processes
Ensure clear communication and understanding of accountability chart among the team
Identify and discuss areas for improvement
Identify and set performance management goals for individual team members and the team collectively
Oversee the monitoring and enforcing of completed agreements, including requests for information and financial compliance.
Lead internal and external partners, with the help of the collective team and resources, through all aspects of technology commercialization process.
Remain abreast of the latest developments and advancements in technology commercialization.
Establish and build healthy and strong working relationships with key internal and external partners.
Attend external events to engage with appropriate external partners and audiences and communicate on message the work of the institution and office.
Provide timely and courteous service; communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
Perform problem solving with all parties involved in the technology commercialization process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
