Overview
PROJECT MANAGER V (TERMINAL DELIVERY DIRECTOR) LOCATION: LOS ANGELES, CA Synopsis: The Terminal Delivery Director reports to the TDIP Deputy Program Executive and is ultimately responsible for managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all design & construction related activities for a given Terminal Modernization project. The candidate should understand major design & construction projects within an active operating environment (e.g., aviation, transportation, manufacturing), be knowledgeable in all delivery methods, possess leadership to drive solutions, manage stakeholders effectively, think innovatively, and communicate up to achieve the program vision. Position And Project Description: The Terminal Delivery Director controls and monitors the macro picture of all design & construction and logistics activities, while project managers and teams handle day-to-day tasks. The role focuses on schedule certainty, budget delivery, quality standards, and a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. Responsibilities include construction, testing, turnover planning, minimizing operational impacts, and optimizing risk mitigation for construction activities. The project involves a major renovation of an entire terminal that is LAWA-managed; final scope of which terminal remains to be defined. Responsibilities
Monitor design & construction activities to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery meeting codes and standards Implement and oversee a quality assurance plan with robust quality control across all project phases Manage risks related to design, construction interfaces between projects, contractors, and third parties Supervise and guide project teams with TDIP leadership Oversee logistics activities during all construction phases for terminal programs, including operations and maintenance considerations Oversee testing and commissioning Facilitate information flow between the terminal program and LAWA projects/divisions Identify and resolve interface issues between TDIP terminal contracts and other LAWA projects Review design plans and documents for constructability and logistics Assist in risk management to support schedule and cost containment Coordinate traffic analyses and terminal program scheduling with CTA and CALM teams Facilitate interface coordination meetings among project teams Verify interfaces and integrated systems function as expected Develop and track work sequences for terminal projects Coordinate quality and safety requirements with LAWA Inspection Assist in estimating and review of change proposals for contractual compliance Coordinate conceptual estimates for new scopes of work Support change order negotiations and documentation Qualifications
20+ years of experience, preferably on airport projects Demonstrated specialized experience in relevant domain Experience with projects valued over $250 million Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build delivery methods Proven ability to perform in a management capacity Excellent written and oral communication skills; thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations Self-starter with proactive, results-oriented focus; willing to assume additional responsibilities Ability to interface with people of varying technical levels and backgrounds Detail-oriented and highly organized Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or related field required Master’s degree preferred Relevant professional licensure and/or certification (e.g., AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP) strongly preferred Element-Specific Requirements/Notes
