Overview
This actuarial position will play an integral role on the Risk Solutions pricing team within Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). The Risk Solutions business has products including UK Reinsurance, Specialized Benefit Resources, and Post Retirement Benefits. The successful candidate will report to the VP Risk Solutions Pricing lead and support quantitative analysis in underwriting, pricing, and closing in alignment with MetLife’s enterprise strategy. This is a visible role to senior leaders within the RIS Leadership Team and other business and corporate functions, with opportunities to influence management decisions and drive results. The role will lead pricing across the UK Reinsurance product, focusing on underwriting and pricing longevity and funded reinsurance transactions. The candidate will work closely with RIS business and functional partners, including actuarial, investments, operations, legal, risk and finance, to create value through new business pricing and evaluation of risk with appropriate returns. There is potential to guide and manage a small team of actuaries.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting including using a predictive mortality model and deal-specific mortality experience analysis Presentations and discussions with key stakeholders to agree on mortality assumptions Financial modeling of liability cashflow, reserve, asset return, capital projection, and risk sensitivities Analysis of pricing metrics including return on investment, value of new business, and capital deployed Support the pricing strategy and collaborate with business leaders at pricing governance meetings Potential to lead a small team of actuaries within new business underwriting and pricing for UK Reinsurance Interact with external clients through discussions on active and potential future transactions Structure deals with business leads and cross-functional partners to optimize profitable opportunities for MetLife
Essential Experience and Technical Skills
Required: Strong presentation and written communication skills Analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills Leadership qualities to potentially guide and manage a small team Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment 7+ years of experience in insurance and/or reinsurance Fellow of the Society of Actuaries Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline
Preferred: Experience pricing for group annuity risks and with case-specific mortality underwriting Experience using Prophet
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range is $137,000.00/yr - $182,600.00/yr. The role may be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
