Overview
Senior Project Manager, Construction role focusing on planning, budgeting, and overseeing healthcare construction projects to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and infection control standards.
Responsibilities
Coordinates, plans, or oversees the planning of assigned projects in collaboration with affected departments, contractors and other supporting vendors.
Ensures all project related documentation are in place to ensure projects meet or exceed all appropriate healthcare regulatory, safety and infection control standards.
Tracks and reports project cost, schedules and status along with recommendations to keep projects on time and on budget.
Participates in routine and final inspections with inspectors.
Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other negotiated/assigned activities.
Assists Safety Manager by providing necessary reports and representing the organization on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections.
Analyzes job cost and manages the project to final closeout.
Oversees the preparation of weekly and monthly reports on project progress and leads regular project meetings.
Responsible for reviewing and the accuracy of general contractors, subcontractors and/or suppliers pay requests and oversees the approval process.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Required Licenses and/or Certifications: None required.
Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications: American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) certification preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Required Experience: 15 years of construction management experience, with at least 10 of those years in healthcare construction, project planning, budgeting, and design.
Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Other relevant education, training, or work experience in Healthcare project management or related area may substitute for bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of construction building codes, Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) - Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals, Healthcare regulations and codes.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple and competing tasks, ability to shift priorities and able to work independently in a fast paced, fluid environment.
Strong management skills necessary for selecting and managing successful project teams.
Possesses excellent leadership skills with the ability to plan, supervise, establish and maintain a professional work environment.
Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Must possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to interact with and build collegial relationships with diverse individuals.
Must be self-directed, self-motivated and have a high level of personal initiative.
High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills preferred.
Working Conditions Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
