Controller. SUMMARY:

The Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of Misericordia Home, ensuring timely and accurate monthly closes and overseeing the creation and dissemination of internal financial reports.The Controller will develop, implement, and maintain financial/accounting policies and internal controls.The Controller will support the annual financial statement audit, as well as assist with the development of the annual budget, perform ongoing reviews of financial results, and prepare other financial analysis and reports as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES: ·Direct oversight of the following functions:General Ledger (including Fixed Assets and Payroll), Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Cash Receipts (including Misericordia Businesses). ·Supervise and mentor a team of approximately 8 to 10 employees. ·Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. ·Review, maintain, and develop a strong system of internal controls to ensure safeguarding of assets. ·Oversee accounting system and maintain/update general ledger/chart of accounts. ·Oversee all aspects of monthly and annual close processes, ensuring reconciliation of accounts and proper recording of all transactions in accordance with GAAP. ·Prepare, review, and distribute internal monthly financial reports. ·Participate in external audit process; coordinate/review audit schedules. ·Assist with the development of the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets; review actual results against budget, providing analysis and insight into variances and maintaining oversight of the cost trends occurring in residential, programming, and auxiliary areas ·Work closely with all departments to review financial results and provide ongoing financial/accounting education. ·Provide support to Development/Fundraising, including grant reporting, review of donation classification, and reconciliations; ensure appropriate use, accounting, and reporting of restricted funds. ·Assist with support/preparation of external regulatory reports/filings, including state funding agency cost reports, 990, 1099 and other federal tax filings, sales tax filings, and other requirements as needed. ·Complete timely and accurate recording and reporting of investment activity QUALIFICATIONS: ·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA preferred) ·Strong knowledge of GAAP and background in nonprofit accounting; 5 to 10 years related experience ·Detail -oriented and organized; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills ·Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills ·Excellent written and verbal communication skills ·Previous supervisory experience required PAY:$90,000-110,000 annually PTO, Tuition Reimbursement, Referral Bonus, Health, Dental and Vision for full-time & part-time employees, 401K with 2% match, Paid Jury Duty, ADP self-service portal, Training and Professional Development opportunities, Recognition and Appreciation Initiatives, Access to Fitness Room/Pool Seniority level
