Overview The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the month-end close process. In a growing, fast-paced organization, this position requires a hands-on approach, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a willingness to take ownership of both routine and ad-hoc accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, loves account reconciliations, and thrives in a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves environment.

Key Responsibilities Core Accounting

Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.

Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accruals.

Update monthly account reconciliations and commentary on any variances.

Assist in month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

Process vendor invoices, ensure appropriate coding, accruing any anticipated AP not received, and manage payment schedules.

Maintain vendor and customer records in the accounting system (Sage).

Reporting & Analysis

Assist in preparing internal financial statements and supporting schedules.

Provide variance analysis to explain changes in expenses or revenue.

Support audit requests and assist in preparing documentation for tax filings.

Compliance & Controls

Ensure transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Perform ad-hoc analysis and special projects as requested by management.

Other Duties

Participate in process improvement projects to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Proficiency with ERP software (Sage) and MS Excel.

Strong account reconciliation skills

High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Comfortable discussing medical and recreational cannabis in a professional setting.

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Must commit to working sober — we love cannabis, but we do not get high on the job.

This position is based on site and not eligible for remote commuting.

Benefits and Compensation

Pay range between $70,000 – $75,000
