Job Description This position functions as a case manager for assigned students attending the CTTC in Daytona Beach. As a case manager, the incumbent will be responsible for providing adjustments to blindness, counseling, and vocational rehabilitation counseling services, developing plans for acquiring independent living skills and/or identifying and pursuing an appropriate vocational goal and recommending ancillary services. The incumbent will model, demonstrate, and guide other employees in the use of flexibility, adaptability, and approachability while adhering to applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide adjustments to blindness, counseling, and vocational rehabilitation counseling services, including guidance and counseling, interpreting medical reports, and evaluating data.
Assist students in developing plans for acquiring independent living skills and pursuing vocational goals.
Conduct and/or participate in weekly seminars on adjustment to blindness.
Follow through on arrangements for recommended ancillary services (e.g., drug counseling, alcoholism, psychological counseling).
Maintain updated client contact reports and produce reports for staffing of each assigned client.
Schedule and conduct ICP, Monthly and Exit Staffing sessions; coordinate with referring counselors.
Provide orientation to new classes and maintain communication with the student’s referring counselor and family (with proper consent).
Assist in public education and relations, including speaking engagements and tours for CTTC visitors.
Coordinate medical services and liaison with other agencies serving the client, including psychological services.
Assess and respond to emergency mental health needs of students and assist in career evaluation and counseling strategies for Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE).
Train CTTC staff in career counseling and exploration for the visually impaired.
Evaluate assessment tools and provide recommendations for staff and consultants; assist in determining appropriate career exploration tools.
Perform other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Effective communication and ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation guidance and counseling theories and practices.
Knowledge of interviewing techniques and medical/psychological aspects of disability groups.
Knowledge of employment resources and vocational rehabilitation resources; ability to analyze data and career information for visually impaired clients.
Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field reasonably related to social, behavioral, rehabilitative science, education, visual disabilities, or vocational rehabilitation, or
Four years of professional and relevant experience in related fields. Preference given to those with a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Three to five years of experience in social, behavioral, rehabilitative science, education, visual disabilities, or vocational rehabilitation.
Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and case management experience.
