Job Description
The Division of Blind Services is seeking a Human Services Program Consultant II. The incumbent will provide direct and online instruction in Web Accessibility and must be willing to learn coding in HTML, CSS, & Java Script. Responsibilities: Maintain and practice a current understanding of FDOE and DBS policies and guidelines regarding information security. Train using adaptive software which includes introduction to computer keyboard and use of various programs such as Windows, Word, Outlook, and the Internet. Perform other teaching duties as assigned. Conduct initial evaluation of clients referred for training to determine the level of skills, knowledge, and readiness for web accessibility training. Maintain records of goals, participation in class, and progress of each student. Prepare timely student progress reports. Develop lesson plans that reflect the daily objectives needed to meet established goals. Perform routine maintenance of equipment and supplies, keeping inventory in good repair and makes purchases as needed. Attend workshops and conferences for professional growth; participate in public education as needed and serve as a resource person for staff, students, and the public. Recommend ancillary services such as audiology, low vision, and physical therapy, which would enhance students' program. Assist in training volunteers or interns assigned to the Center. Provide vision rehabilitation training as needed to meet the student demand for service. Provide class coverage in the absence of instructional staff. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study reasonably related to vocational rehabilitation, to indicate a level of competency and skill demonstrating basic preparation in a field of study such as vocational rehabilitation counseling; or Four years of professional and relevant experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program. Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program. An ability to establish and maintain education and experience requirements to ensure an understanding of the evolving labor force and the needs of individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
