We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Advocate to join our dedicated team supporting a top producer with a diverse client portfolio. While restaurant clients represent our primary focus (from white-glove establishments to fast-food operations), this role also involves supporting clients across various other industries. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, helping them build robust WC programs while providing hands-on claims advocacy. Who We Are . The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Advocate to join our dedicated team supporting a top producer with a diverse client portfolio. While restaurant clients represent our primary focus (from white-glove establishments to fast-food operations), this role also involves supporting clients across various other industries. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, helping them build robust WC programs while providing hands-on claims advocacy. Responsibilities
Manage workers' compensation claims for clients from various stages of the claim lifecycle. Follow select claims from inception through closure, ensuring optimal outcomes for clients. Serve as primary escalation point for carrier and TPA concerns, advocating aggressively for client interests. Monitor claim reserves, settlement negotiations, and medical management decisions. Coordinate with insurance carriers, TPAs, medical providers, and legal counsel as needed. Partner with clients across various industries to build and refine their workers' compensation programs. Analyze claim trends and loss patterns to identify industry-specific and client-specific risk factors. Develop customized risk management strategies addressing unique exposures across different business operations. Provide guidance on return-to-work programs tailored to each client's operational environment and workforce needs. Conduct comprehensive claim reviews and present actionable findings to the client. Build and maintain strong relationships with client contacts, from HR managers to corporate risk managers. Collaborate with the dedicated claims director and account service teams to ensure seamless client service delivery. Participate in client meetings, renewal presentations, and strategic planning sessions. Serve as subject matter expert on industry workers' compensation exposures. What You Bring To The Table
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution. Minimum 10 years of experience in workers' compensation claims, risk management, or related fields. Deep understanding of California workers' compensation laws, regulations, and procedures. Experience working with insurance carriers and third-party administrators. Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret claim data and identify trends. Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with restaurant, hospitality, or other service industry clients preferred. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills. Strong client service orientation with a consultative approach. Ability to manage multiple complex claims simultaneously. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Proven ability to effectively interact with all levels (including executives) within an organization. This position can be a hybrid role (3 days/week in the San Diego office, 2 days/week working from home). The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidates skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific positions business line, scope and level.
