Overview

Post-doc fellow position at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). The Division of Nephrology/Department of Medicine seeks an experienced post-doctoral fellow/Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, biology to advance computer projects that are key to our goals and to work on preeclampsia/OB/GYN platform projects. The role involves developing and optimizing in-vitro/in-vivo experiments to test various drug candidates and provides an opportunity to work at the leading edge of preeclampsia pharmacology and immunology. Candidates with extensive in-vitro and in-vivo research experience in biology, interest in learning new techniques, and expanding experience in preeclampsia are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be scientifically motivated, capable of conducting experiments independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate various small-molecule drug candidates using in vivo preeclampsia models.

Design and perform blood pressure measurement in mice using CODA tail-cuff system.

Work with pregnant mice and assess pregnancy outcomes.

Perform ELISA to measure antibody responses and inflammatory markers.

Perform tissue staining and microscopy, including electron microscopy, to analyze mitochondrial dysfunction in preeclampsia.

Determine effects of immunomodulatory therapeutic molecules on transgene expression and durability.

Review literature, propose new ideas and solutions.

Interact with cross-functional teams and present data in small and large group settings.

Primary/Key Qualifications

Doctoral Degree or M.D.

0-1 year of postdoctoral research experience in an academic or industrial lab setting, and/or teaching assistantship in a university setting, and/or residency, and/or clinical duties beyond that of the qualifying doctoral degree.

Customer Service: Provide high level of customer service and staff training; handle issues promptly and respectfully.

Physical Nature of the Job Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force; some elements may be sedentary but walking/standing may be required.

Additional Requirements As a health care organization, BIDMC requires that all staff be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
