Overview

The Associate Portfolio Manager is an integral member of the commercial banking team, supporting the full credit lifecycle from underwriting through ongoing portfolio oversight. This role partners with relationship managers, credit staff, and leadership to evaluate borrower risk, craft financing structures, and ensure high-quality client and portfolio outcomes. Success in this position requires strong financial acumen, an eye for detail, and a solid understanding of credit risk and regulatory expectations. Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr Responsibilities

Credit Evaluation - Review and interpret borrower financials, cash flows, and supporting documentation to evaluate repayment capacity and identify risks. Develop lending recommendations aligned with the bank’s credit philosophy. Credit Memos & Presentations - Draft thorough credit write-ups and risk assessments, delivering well-supported recommendations to credit committees and senior decision-makers. Due Diligence - Conduct industry, borrower, and collateral research to provide context for lending decisions. Structuring Solutions - Partner with relationship managers to design loan terms and structures that meet client objectives while safeguarding the bank’s interests. Portfolio Oversight - Track loan performance, covenant compliance, and borrower reporting. Identify early warning signs of credit issues and recommend action plans. Risk & Compliance - Ensure credit files, loan documentation, and risk ratings meet internal standards and regulatory requirements. Contribute to audits, reviews, and risk assessments. Client Interaction - Provide responsive support to client requests, such as guidance on documentation, ACH instructions, and annual financial statement submissions. Build strong relationships with borrowers and internal stakeholders to maintain client satisfaction. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline. 1-3 years of professional experience in commercial credit, portfolio management, or lending (preferred). Strong analytical background with the ability to interpret financial statements and assess borrower risk. Familiarity with loan structures, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices. Strong writing skills and the ability to prepare clear, persuasive credit analyses. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
