Overview

We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Business Development Manager for our client in the home décor accessories industry. This individual will lead the growth strategy and expand presence across mass merchants, home improvement, grocery, pharmacy, convenience, and specialty retail channels. This role will own the Sales and Marketing function and work closely with the Senior Leadership team to position and sell product programs in ways that create long-term retail partnerships. This role is based in Chicago and operates on a hybrid basis (3 days/week in-office). Travel to trade shows, account meetings, and industry events as required (approximately 25%). Responsibilities

Own pipeline visibility through CRM and manage outreach campaigns. Provide accurate sales forecasts by account and month, with regular reporting on pipeline status, wins, and challenges. Lead annual budgeting, demand planning, and resource allocation efforts. Define clear success metrics (revenue growth, account wins, program size) and track progress against them. Manage the trade show and industry events budget, attending and representing the company to strengthen relationships and drive engagement. Lead Sales & Marketing, partnering with the Senior Leadership Team to profitably grow the business. Build and manage a strong sales pipeline targeting national and regional retailers across mass, home improvement (Lowe’s, Home Depot, Menards), Walmart, Meijer, and others—with additional exposure to off-price, ecommerce, and closeout channels. Re-engage inactive accounts with fresh, insight-driven proposals. Deliver

$2M in new business within 12 months

and

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or related field. 7+ years in business development, account acquisition, or sales leadership

within home décor, seasonal consumer goods, or related retail sectors. Established

buyer relationships in home décor

(seasonal category a strong plus), particularly with majors, home improvement, Walmart, Meijer, and ideally off-price and ecommerce channels. Proven success in

program and solution selling —creating compelling, visionary presentations that secure and sustain retail space. Ability to

open new doors at the top of the funnel

and remain hands-on throughout the sales cycle to close opportunities. Strong track record of

winning with new and existing accounts

and exceeding sales goals. Based in Chicago with ability to work a

hybrid schedule (3 days/week in-office) . Comfortable with

25%+ travel

for trade shows, account meetings, and industry events. Job Details
